Clearwell Systems Appoints Luminaries in Search and Email Archiving to its Technical Advisory Board
Google’s Louis Monier and Nigel Dutt, Formerly of Symantec, To Provide Technical Guidance and Expert Advice To Clearwell’s Research and Development Teams
SANTA CLARA, Calif.—October 17, 2006—Clearwell Systems, Inc., a pioneer in Email Intelligence, today announced the appointments of Louis Monier, member of Technical Staff at Google, and Nigel Dutt, founder and former CTO of KVS (now Symantec Enterprise Vault), to its Technical Advisory Board. Both Monier and Dutt are recognized as intellectual thought leaders in their respective fields. Monier created Alta Vista, the leading search engine of its time, which is still widely deployed in several thousand enterprises. Dutt’s path-breaking initiatives in the area of email archiving led to the development of Symantec’s Enterprise Vault product set. Collectively, they bring a wealth of experience in search engine development and email archiving solutions to Clearwell’s research and development teams.
“No one has made greater contributions to the fields of search and email archiving than Louis and Nigel. They are inspirational figures who bring deep insight and further domain expertise to Clearwell’s team,” said Aaref Hilaly, president and CEO of Clearwell Systems. “Technical guidance from leading lights like Nigel and Louis will help Clearwell continue its tradition of rapid innovation, which is the basis of our product leadership.”
Monier is presently at Google. He joined Google from eBay, where he re-wrote eBay’s search engine, dramatically improving its performance and providing real-time auction pricing for the first time. Prior to eBay, Monier was the founder and former CTO of Alta Vista, the leading Web search engine of its time. Earlier in his career, Monier held research positions with Carnegie Mellon University and Xerox PARC. He received a Ph.D. in Mathematics and Computer Science from the Universite de Paris in 1980.
Dutt founded and served as CTO of KVS, a pioneer in email archiving, which was acquired by VERITAS Software in 2004. Following VERITAS’ own acquisition by Symantec the following year, KVS became the foundation for Symantec Enterprise Vault, a market-leading email archiving solution. Prior to KVS, Dutt was the chief architect for Digital’s (later Compaq) ALL-IN-1 office product. Dutt has more than 35 years experience in software engineering, with deep knowledge in email technology and enterprise products.
